Richard Leach Maddox

Richard Leach Maddox was the inventor of the Gelatin Dry Plate Process. This process allowed plates to be dry when the picture was taken, and they kept so that negatives didn’t need to be developed right away. This was a significant advancement in photography not only because of the efficiency of it, but also because dry plates could be manufactured and sold off the shelf to photographers. They also made it possible for cameras to be small enough to be carried around.
