Henri Cartier Bresson was inspired by the world as it really is. Originally a painter, he turned to photography when he realized that the anonymity and quickness of photography would allow him to capture moments of the world that would never be seen otherwise and cement them into history. He would prowl the streets of cities and photograph random people in order to achieve his vision.
