Nan Goldin

In her own sense, Nan Goldin is a muckraker of the 20th century. Her interest in photography began in high school when she was given her first camera. After graduating from Tufts University, she moved to New York City and really began her photographic career. She focused a lot on drug addicts and the underground sex trade of the 90’s. Her pictures revealed the unhealthy lives of many people that she knew, most of whom were dead by the late 90’s, either from drug overdoses or AIDS.
